Web Desk: Pakistan and the West Indies unveiled the trophy for their upcoming Test series as both teams completed preparations for the opening match, which begins on July 25 at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam and West Indies captain Roston Chase posed with the series trophy during the official unveiling ceremony at the venue, marking the start of the two-match contest.
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s team management began final consultations over its playing XI for the first Test.
According to team sources, Pakistan is considering a lineup featuring seven specialist batters. Azan Awais, Imam-ul-Haq, Shan Masood, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are expected to feature in the batting unit.
Salman Ali Agha is also likely to be included and could serve as the team’s fifth bowling option, while all-rounder Aamer Jamal and veteran fast bowler Mohammad Abbas are expected to retain their places.
Left-arm spinner Ali Usman is in line to make his Test debut, according to team sources.
One of fast bowlers Khurram Shahzad or Mohammad Ali is also expected to complete the pace attack, although the final decision will depend on team balance and player fitness.
Pakistan’s management has also instructed the bowling unit to focus on improving its batting contribution as the team looks to strengthen its lower-order resilience.
The team will conduct a final assessment of players’ fitness before confirming the starting XI ahead of the first Test against the West Indies.
