Web Desk: Federal government has officially notified revised pay scales for government employees, bringing salary increases and enhanced allowances into effect under the new Basic Pay Scales 2026 framework.
The notification replaces the Basic Pay Scales 2022 with the new pay structure, which takes immediate effect and revises the basic salaries of employees across all grades.
Under the revised framework, the minimum basic salary for Grade 1 employees has increased from Rs13,550 to Rs16,280. Their annual increment has also been raised from Rs430 to Rs520.
The government has also revised the salary structure for higher grades. Employees in Grade 16 will now receive a minimum basic salary of Rs33,720, with the maximum salary under the scale set at Rs115,320.
For Grade 17 officers, the starting basic salary has increased from Rs45,070 to Rs54,140.
Meanwhile, officers in Grade 22 will receive a minimum basic salary of Rs146,770, while the maximum basic pay under the revised scale has been fixed at Rs293,350.
Alongside the revised pay scales, the federal government has constituted an Anomaly Committee to address any discrepancies or implementation issues that may arise under the new salary structure.
The committee will review concerns related to the revised pay scales and recommend corrective measures where necessary.
The notification also confirms the continuation of the Executive Allowance for officers in Grades 17 to 22 under the Basic Pay Scales 2022 framework. The allowance will be effective from July 1, 2026.
In addition, the government has approved a flat 50% increase in conveyance allowance for all federal employees from Grades 1 to 22, with the revised rates also taking effect from July 1, 2026.
Following the revision, employees in Grades 1 to 4 will receive a monthly conveyance allowance of Rs2,678, up from Rs1,785.
Employees in Grades 5 to 10 will now receive Rs2,898 per month, while the allowance for Grades 11 to 15 has increased from Rs2,856 to Rs4,284.
For officers in Grade 16 and above, the monthly conveyance allowance has been raised from Rs5,000 to Rs7,500.
The revised pay package forms part of the federal government’s broader effort to update the public sector salary structure, improve employee compensation and address pay-related anomalies through the newly established review mechanism.
