Pakistan has finalized a 17-member Test squad for the upcoming tours of the West Indies and England, with an official announcement expected in the coming days.

According to media reports, the selection committee has recommended several key changes to the squad. Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, spinner Nauman Ali, and pacer Hasan Ali are likely to be dropped.

Media reports suggest that, as part of a policy to promote young talent, Ali Usman, Awais Zafar, and Ubaid Shah are expected to earn their maiden call-ups to the national Test squad.

Meanwhile, the inclusion of wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan and middle-order batter Saud Shakeel will depend on their fitness, with a final decision to be made after they receive medical clearance.

Keeping in view the conditions in the West Indies and England, there is a possibility that a greater number of fast bowlers will be included in the squad for both series.

Pakistan’s two-match Test series against the West Indies is scheduled to begin on July 25, after which the national team will travel to England for a Test series.

The national team’s final training camp will be held in Islamabad from July 9 to August 12, and the team will depart for the West Indies on July 13.
