The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has officially announced PhD scholarships for 2027 admissions under the Pak-US Knowledge Corridor programme.
According to details, these scholarships are available for outstanding students from Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir who wish to pursue a PhD degree at US universities ranked among the Top 100 in the QS World University Rankings.
HEC stated that the scholarship is strictly for PhD programmes and does not cover Master’s, MS, or MS leading to PhD programmes.
HEC has divided the scholarship into two categories based on the QS rankings of US universities.
The first category includes the Top 50 QS-ranked universities.
According to the university invoice, successful applicants will receive full tuition fee coverage, an annual stipend of US$19,200, and US$2,000 per year for health insurance support.
For admission to a Top 50 US university, applicants must have either a minimum GRE General score of 300 or at least 60% marks in the HEC HAT test.
Category 2 includes universities ranked 51 to 100 in the QS rankings. Under this category, students will receive up to US$12,000 per year in tuition fee support, an annual stipend of US$19,200, and US$2,000 per year for health insurance.
For admission to these universities, applicants must also have a minimum GRE General score of 300 or at least 60% marks in the HEC HAT test.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have completed at least 16 years of education (BS, BSc, BE, or an equivalent degree), and they must not have obtained a second or third division at any stage of their academic career.
The maximum age limit is 40 years for government employees, regular faculty members of public sector universities or government colleges, and researchers at approved R&D institutions. For all other applicants, the upper age limit is 35 years.
In addition, applicants must not already be receiving any other scholarship.
How to Apply
Interested candidates are advised to first secure admission to a US university in an HEC-approved field of study and then submit their applications through HEC’s online scholarship portal. Detailed information is available on the official HEC website.
