AJK polls: Khawaja Tahir Ayub Lone refuses contesting election from TLP platform

Mirpur: LA-3 candidate Khawaja Tahir Ayub Lone has clarified his position regarding his election campaign, saying that since Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) is not a registered political party in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, he will not launch his election campaign from the TLP platform.


According to details Khawaja Tahir announced that he is a patriotic Kashmiri and Pakistani who firmly believes in full compliance with the law and the Constitution, and that he will conduct his election campaign in accordance with all legal requirements and the election code of conduct.


Khawaja Tahir Ayub Lone added that his objective is to serve the people, promote the region’s development, and address public issues while remaining within the bounds of the law throughout the electoral process.

The Azad Jammu and Kashmir LA election is being conducted on 27th July 2026. Major political parties including Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jammu Kashmir Peoples Party (JKPP), Jammu Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), and independent candidates are to contest the election.

The AJK Legislative Assembly election is going to play a significant role in shaping the political future of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Political parties are focusing on governance, development projects, infrastructure, tourism, education, healthcare, employment opportunities, and the Kashmir issue as key election manifestoes.

Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Kotli, Bagh, Poonch, Haveli, Neelum, Bhimber, Sudhnoti and other districts will express their free will to elect representatives for the next five-year term of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
