Uncertainty grows about Rizwan’s selection for West Indies tour

Muhammad Rizwan fitness issue

Pakistan cricket team’s former Test captain and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan is currently part of the national team’s red-ball training camp. Reports suggest that the wicketkeeper, who joined the camp a week late, has been undergoing rehabilitation under medical supervision and remains away from regular cricket practice.

The 34-year-old wicketkeeper will undergo a fitness test by the PCB medical team on July 6 in Lahore.

Pakistan is expected to depart for the West Indies on July 15 for a two-Test series. If Rizwan fails to regain full fitness, wicketkeepers Ghazi Ghori and Rohail Nazir could travel with the squad as replacement options.

Mohammad Rizwan has been Pakistan’s most successful batter in recent Test matches. In his last 15 Tests, he has scored 1,157 runs, including one century and nine half-centuries.

In July–August 2026, Pakistan’s men’s cricket team will once again embark on a red-ball tour of the Caribbean, facing the West Indies in a two-match Test series that forms part of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

The tour will run from July 15 to August 7, featuring a four-day warm-up match and two high-stakes Test matches at iconic Caribbean venues.

This tour is not just another bilateral series — it is a defining chapter for Pakistan’s Test ambitions, squad evolution, and overseas credibility, while also marking a significant milestone for West Indies cricket infrastructure and revival.
