X suffers major global disruption, users report broken timelines, errors

⏱ 2 minute read
X disruptions worldwide

On Monday morning, millions of users of X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk, were suddenly met with issues the service experienced a widespread outage.

It started shortly after 9 a.m. Eastern Time, when users started noticing that their timelines were not loading properly. Instead of posts, many were faced with error messages, blank feeds, and glitches that made the platform difficult to use.

At first, only a few complaints appeared online, but within minutes, the situation escalated rapidly with countless such complaints. According to Down detector, a website that tracks service disruptions, reports of problems with X surged to nearly 30,000 in a very short span of time.

As the disruption spread, users from different regions began reporting similar issues. Many were unable to refresh their feeds, post updates, or access notifications. The sudden disruption quickly turned into a global global discussion, as people rushed to other platforms to confirm whether X was down for everyone or just for them.

Downdetector’s comment section also became unusually active. Instead of just reporting issues, users began interacting with each other there, treating the page like a temporary chat room while waiting for the service to come to its normal.

The outage showed how heavily users rely on the platform for real-time updates and its use. Even a short disruption caused widespread confusion and a noticeable spike in online activity elsewhere.

Although service began stabilizing later, the incident worked as a reminder of how quickly global platforms can be affected—and how millions of users react within minutes when they suddenly go offline.
