The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has launched a major crackdown against the banned Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee, placing 154 of its leaders and activists on the Fourth Schedule and initiating measures to freeze their national identity cards, passports and bank accounts.

According to a notification issued by the AJK Home Department, the action has been taken under the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Terrorism Act 2014. The notification states that the decision was approved in light of recommendations from the Central Police Office and a cabinet decision to place active members of the banned organization on the Fourth Schedule.

Government sources said individuals included in the Fourth Schedule will be subject to strict monitoring, while restrictions will also apply to their financial activities, banking transactions and travel documents. Relevant institutions, including NADRA, FIA, the State Bank of Pakistan, NACTA and other law-enforcement agencies, have been directed to implement the notification.

According to the notification, the listed individuals belong to various districts of AJK, including Muzaffarabad, Jhelum Valley, Mirpur, Kotli, Bhimber and Poonch. The government maintains that the measures are aimed at ensuring law and order and strengthening the rule of law across the region.
