Pakistan Recognized as a Neutral Mediator, Says US Publication

Pakistan’s mediation in the US-Iran peace agreement has received widespread international appreciation. A US publication described Pakistan’s role as a historic diplomatic achievement and an important step toward regional peace.

According to the The Wall Street Journal, the US-Iran agreement represents a complete and unconditional success for Pakistan, which played a key mediating role between the two countries. US and Iranian officials are expected to formally sign the agreement reached through Pakistani mediation in Switzerland on Friday.

The publication stated that Pakistan’s diplomatic success could be compared to the football team of Cape Verde winning the FIFA World Cup. It further claimed that former US President Donald Trump publicly praised Pakistan’s leadership on multiple occasions and referred to Syed Asim Munir as his favorite field marshal.

It was further stated that the Islamabad talks held in April provided Pakistan with a rare opportunity to gain positive attention in international media. The report added that efforts to diplomatically isolate Pakistan were undermined as the country’s international engagement increased.

Experts say that by hosting negotiations and promoting dialogue, Pakistan has established itself as a neutral and credible mediator.
