The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has declared the Public Action Committee involved in anti-state activities and approved its inclusion in the list of proscribed organizations, imposing a permanent ban on it.

According to a notification issued by the Home Department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on June 5, 2026, the Acting President of AJK has approved declaring the Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JK-JAAC), also known as the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) and Awami Action Committee (AAC), a prohibited organization under the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Terrorism Act 2014.

The notification states that the government has reasonable grounds to believe that the committee has been involved in activities including terrorism, undermining law and order, intimidating the public, spreading hatred, creating unrest in the region, and fostering a sense of insecurity in society.

According to the government, the activities of the Public Action Committee have been deemed harmful to peace, security, and public safety in the region, leading to its inclusion in the First Schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act 2014.

The notification was issued by a Section Officer of the Home Department, with copies sent to relevant federal and state institutions, secretaries, commissioners, police authorities, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and other concerned departments.
