Residents of CM KP District Khyber have raised serious concerns over the alleged use of poor-quality material in the Shah Gai–Lala China–Mian Dad Khel Road, demanding calls for an official inquiry into the matter.
According to local sources, the construction work on the road linking key areas of Shah Gai, Lala China, and Mian Dad Khel has reportedly not met required quality standards, putting at stake the durability and safety of the road.
People of the area have requited the concerned authorities to take immediate notice of the matter and ensure that proper construction standards are followed. They also stressed that public funds should be used transparently and responsibly.
Besides this, they have also demanded a detailed investigation into the project to hold those responsible accountable and to ensure that future development work in the region meets quality benchmarks.
It is also noted that stories of corruption in government institutions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are continuously appearing in the media, while Sohail Afridi is reportedly displeased with the media due to reporting on corruption.
It is worth noting that Sohail Afridi recently instructed all provincial secretaries to issue legal notices within three days to media houses reporting on corruption.
In the audio, Sohail Afridi further said that any government official who failed to take legal action against media houses would face action on the fourth day.
PTI leader alleges corruption, favoritism in KP Govt tenders
Allegations of corruption and manipulation in KP government contract awards have surfaced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, with members of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) publicly criticising their own party leadership over the issue.
Local PTI leaders along with Asim Khattak in Karak district accused top officials in the Communication and Works (C&W) Department of favoring contractors who submitted higher bids while sidelining those offering lower rates.
According to the allegations, contractors who quoted prices 10% to 20% below the estimated project cost were either ignored or disqualified during the bidding process. In contrast, contractors who submitted bids nearly 10% above the official rates were reportedly declared qualified.
The accusations have intensified concerns over transparency in the province’s public procurement process, particularly in development projects funded through taxpayer money.
Asim Khattak, president of PTI Tehsil Karak, openly criticized his own party’s leadership, accusing authorities of allowing irregularities in contract distribution.
Speaking at a local gathering, Khattak alleged that merit was being undermined and that genuine contractors were being deprived of opportunities despite offering financially competitive bids.
He further claimed that the process had raised serious questions about governance and accountability within provincial institutions.
