A large portion of the road leading to Deosai National Park has reportedly been eroded due to rising river waters, causing large number of tourists stranded since Monday night.
According to reports, the damaged stretch has disrupted access to the park, prompting concerns among visitors and local residents. Social media users have urged the administration to take immediate action, restore connectivity, and shift stranded tourists to safer locations.
Deosai National Park “Land of Giants“, situated on a high-altitude alpine plateau between the Skardu District and Astore District, is one of Pakistan’s most popular tourist destinations and attracts thousands of visitors during the summer season. Authorities are expected to assess the damage and initiate rehabilitation work to reopen the route as soon as possible.
Besides this, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and PML-N leader Captain Safdar Awan, who had traveled to the region for election-related activities, have also been unable to return from Gilgit due to the road closures caused by the damaged route. The disruption has affected both tourists and political figures, highlighting the broader impact of the transport blockade in the area.
It is woth noting that earlier Tourists heading to the famous scenic destination Fairy Meadows near Nanga Parbat faced a tragic accident when their vehicle met with a crash on the way, resulting in the deaths of 7 people.
According to rescue sources, the incident occurred on a difficult and rugged mountainous road. Rescue teams immediately reached the site after receiving information and began operations to evacuate the affected individuals.
