Web Desk: A British newspaper has claimed that funeral prayers for Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were held in Tehran under tight security, although Iranian authorities have yet to confirm the report.
The Telegraph reported that the funeral prayers took place on Thursday in the Iranian capital with limited attendance, including members of Khamenei’s family and a small number of government officials.
However, no independent source has verified the report, and Iranian state media have not issued any official statement regarding the alleged ceremony.
The reported funeral comes amid continuing uncertainty surrounding the aftermath of the initial U.S. strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, in which Khamenei was reportedly killed.
According to earlier reports, several senior Iranian military officials were also killed during the attacks, marking one of the most significant escalations in tensions between Tehran and Washington in recent years.
Meanwhile, analysts say the absence of official confirmation from Iran has fueled speculation and conflicting narratives across international media and social platforms.
Neither Iranian officials nor the country’s supreme leadership office immediately responded to requests for comment on the Telegraph report.
