Pakistan weather forecast

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned of a severe heatwave in Punjab during the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha holidays.

According to PDMA spokesperson, temperatures across most districts of the province are expected to remain 4 to 7 degrees Celsius above normal, raising concerns of extreme weather conditions during the festive period.

The spokesperson further said that temperatures in southern districts may reach up to 50°C, while in cities including Lahore the mercury could rise up to 42°C. Nighttime temperatures are also expected to remain unusually high, adding to public discomfort.

DG PDMA has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and outdoor activity between 10 AM and 5 PM. People have been urged to wear light-colored, loose clothing, cover their heads, and keep children and the elderly indoors during peak heat.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has also issued alerts regarding landslides and the risk of glacial lake outburst floods due to intense heat. Between May 26 and 31, temperatures in most parts of the country are expected to range between 40°C and 48°C.

According to NDMA, a heatwave is expected across Sindh, Balochistan, and southern Punjab, while extreme heat may also affect Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Azad Kashmir. Melting glaciers are increasing risks of landslides and glacial lake outburst floods in northern areas.
