Web Desk: A heated verbal altercation erupted between Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan and Bangladeshi wicketkeeper Litton Das. The incident happened on day four of the second Test at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. During a tense run-chase, local fielders targeted the visiting batter with sarcastic remarks about his batting delays.
Throughout his innings, Rizwan faced repeated distractions from constant movement around the sight screen. The tension finally boiled over in the 72nd over. As Bangladeshi spinner Taijul Islam entered his delivery stride, Rizwan abruptly pulled out of the shot. He gestured toward the sight screen to complain about the visual obstruction.
This stoppage immediately provoked Das, who approached the Pakistani batter to question the frequent delays. Das asked Rizwan what he was doing, which prompted an angry response. Rizwan explained that a person stood directly in his line of sight for every single ball. He then told Das that resolving the issue was not his job. The Bangladeshi wicketkeeper fired back, telling Rizwan to either play or get out.
The on-field umpires quickly intervened to separate the players and defuse the tension. However, the animosity continued on the very next ball. After Rizwan defended a delivery in line with his stumps, Das mocked him aloud. He stated that Rizwan had taken his rest and would now begin acting again.
Other Bangladeshi fielders quickly joined the sledging. They mocked Rizwan’s reputation for theatrical behavior on the pitch. Multiple close-in fielders taunted the batter, saying they would deduct 50 paise for his overacting while sarcastically praising his skills.
Despite the persistent mental tactics from the hosts, Rizwan maintained his composure. He anchored the Pakistani innings and played responsibly under immense pressure. Ultimately, he registered his 14th Test half-century and kept the visitors alive.
Pakistan reached 316 for 7 by the close of day four, chasing a massive fourth-innings target of 437 runs. Rizwan remains unbeaten on 75 runs alongside tailender Sajid Khan, who is not out on 8. The visitors require another 121 runs on the final day to secure a dramatic victory. Meanwhile, Bangladesh needs just three wickets to wrap up the Test series.
