In April, Pakistan earned $424 million from IT exports, showing a 33% year-on-year increase.

According to the latest import and export data released by the State Bank of Pakistan, Pakistan’s IT exports reached a historic level in April 2026, generating $424 million.

The statistics show a 33% annual increase in IT exports, which is being described as rapid growth in the sector.

According to the State Bank, during the first ten months of the current fiscal year, Pakistan’s IT exports reached $3.81 billion, setting a new record. This reflects a 21% increase compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Experts say that if this pace continues, Pakistan’s IT exports could exceed $4.5 billion by the end of the current fiscal year for the first time.

IT specialists attribute this improvement to a more favorable environment for freelancing, software services, and the digital sector in Pakistan, which has significantly boosted exports.

Additionally, the growth in IT exports is a good omen and reflects Pakistan’s increasing integration into the global digital economy, where remote work and outsourced tech services continue to create new horizons for IT skilled professionals. Experts also note that improved connectivity and expanding digital infrastructure have also played a key role in supporting this upward trend.

However, experts also caution that maintaining this growth will require consistent policy support, including ease of doing business, better payment channels for freelancers, and investment in advanced IT training. They stress that long-term stability in export growth will rely on diversification beyond freelancing into higher-value software development and tech-driven services.
