Web Desk: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Monday that a controversial “One Constitution” case represents one of the largest financial scandals in the country’s history, calling for accountability against those responsible rather than focusing solely on the property involved.

Speaking to reporters, Naqvi reiterated that his position on the issue has remained unchanged since the outset. He said the Capital Development Authority (CDA) also considers the property to have been sold illegally and that a formal committee has now been established to investigate the matter.

“We will present the same stance before the committee,” he said, adding that the outcome should uphold the rule of law.

Naqvi emphasized that the legal process must remain impartial. He said the law cannot differentiate between rich and poor, stressing that accountability must be applied uniformly.

“The law is equal for everyone. It cannot be different for the wealthy and the underprivileged,” he said.

The interior minister alleged that the case involves a broad network of individuals across multiple sectors, including politicians, bureaucrats, judges and bankers.

He claimed that illicit payments continued for more than two decades, describing the issue as unprecedented in scale. “Such a large scam may not have occurred before in Pakistan’s history,” he said.

However, Naqvi urged investigators to prioritise identifying and prosecuting those who caused financial harm to the country rather than concentrating solely on the building tied to the dispute.

“We should not go after the building alone, but those who damaged the country,” he said.

Meanwhile, he reaffirmed his full support for the CDA’s stance and said the government would back the investigation process, expressing confidence that legal proceedings would ultimately prevail.
