Web Desk: Rain is expected in Islamabad and parts of Pakistan’s central and upper regions in the coming days, while most plain areas will continue to experience hot and dry weather, the national meteorological department said.
Forecasters said a weather system could bring showers to parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and the Potohar region. Meanwhile, upper and southeastern Punjab, along with Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, may also receive rain accompanied by strong winds.
However, conditions across much of the country are expected to remain hot and dry, maintaining a persistent heat pattern in lowland areas.
A day earlier, some of the country’s highest temperatures were recorded in southern areas. The coastal town of Jiwani registered a high of 46 degrees Celsius, while Mohenjo-daro recorded 44 degrees Celsius and Larkana 43 degrees Celsius, reflecting the intensity of the ongoing heatwave.
In Lahore, skies are expected to remain cloudy throughout the day. Meteorologists said thunderstorms with gusty winds are likely in the afternoon.
Wind speeds in the city could reach between 70 and 90 kilometers per hour, while temperatures are forecast to range from a low of 25 degrees Celsius to a high of 35 degrees Celsius.
Experts attributed the changing conditions to a pre-monsoon system interacting with westerly winds. As a result, intermittent spells of rain may continue in upper parts of the country over the coming days, offering temporary relief from the heat in those areas.
