Peak hours load shedding schedule

The Power Division has issued a clarification regarding its peak hours relief strategy.

According to the spokesperson, there will be no load shedding during peak hours for consumers of HESCO and K-Electric.

The spokesperson further stated that due to the availability of cheaper electricity generation in southern Pakistan, the previously announced 2 hours and 15 minutes of load shedding during peak hours will not apply in these areas.

It was also explained that in southern regions, electricity generated from sources other than furnace oil is available in sufficient quantity. This electricity is supplied specifically to these two distribution companies.

The spokesperson emphasized that consumers of HESCO and K-Electric are not being subjected to unnecessary inconvenience, and therefore, they have been exempted from load shedding during peak hours.

Earlier, power division had announced peak hours load shedding of 2.15 hours , saying that despite the increase in fuel prices, electricity has become cheaper by 71 paisa per unit. The purpose of load management is to prevent a possible increase of around Rs. 3 per unit in electricity prices.

It was also stated that even after limiting the use of furnace oil, consumers should be prepared for an increase of about Rs. 1.5 per unit. If timely measures had not been taken, electricity prices could have risen by Rs. 5 to 6 per unit.
