Web Desk: Pakistan’s political and military leadership played a key role in reducing tensions in the Middle East and helping enable a ceasefire, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf said on Tuesday.
He credited “timely and prudent efforts” by the country’s leadership for contributing to de-escalation in a region rattled by recent conflict.
Speaking at a graduation parade at the Pakistan Air Force Academy Asghar Khan in Risalpur, Ashraf also praised Pakistan’s armed forces for their operational readiness and coordination. Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu attended the ceremony.
Ashraf highlighted the Pakistan Air Force’s professionalism, saying it demonstrated its capabilities during operations in May last year and sent a “clear message” to adversaries. He added that the air force had established its edge not only in conventional warfare but also in cyber and electronic domains.
He also referred to naval operations, saying the Pakistan Navy effectively countered aggression and ensured the defense of maritime boundaries. According to him, coordinated military preparedness has strengthened national security across air and sea domains.
Turning to the international situation, Ashraf pointed to the Iran–United States tensions and the disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, which he said significantly affected global oil supplies.
However, he added that Pakistan played a constructive role in efforts aimed at resolving the crisis, contributing to broader regional stability.
Ashraf said Pakistan’s armed forces, backed by public support, continue to counter militancy effectively. He reiterated that the military remains prepared to respond to any aggression.
He emphasised that Pakistan’s defense posture is rooted in deterrence and rapid response capability across multiple domains.
Congratulating the graduating cadets, Ashraf urged them to equip themselves with modern technological skills and remain committed to defending the country. He expressed confidence that the new officers would carry forward their responsibilities with dedication.
The ceremony comes at a time when Pakistan has sought to strengthen its global standing through military diplomacy. Analysts say recent air and naval operations, coupled with diplomatic engagement, have reinforced the country’s position as a responsible regional actor.
