Forbes releases new list of most successful self-made Americans

Karachi: Forbes has released a new list of the most successful self-made Americans, with Oprah Winfrey securing the top position


The ranking includes ten individuals who rose from extremely difficult circumstances to achieve wealth, fame, and influence. The list features Harold Hamm, David Steward, Thomas Peterffy, LeBron James, Jan Koum, Dolly Parton, Bill Clinton, Diane Hendricks, and J. D. Vance.


According to Forbes, all individuals on the list started from poverty or extremely challenging conditions and went on to achieve remarkable success.


Oprah Winfrey was ranked first for overcoming a difficult and traumatic childhood to become a global media icon.

Harold Hamm secured second place after rising from a farming background in Oklahoma to become a major figure in the oil industry.

David Steward ranked third, having built a major IT company despite facing poverty and racial discrimination.


Thomas Peterffy, who immigrated from Hungary, ranked fourth for his success in financial trading. LeBron James placed fifth after rising from poverty to become a global basketball star and billionaire athlete. Jan Koum ranked sixth for co-founding WhatsApp after immigrating and building success in the tech world.


Dolly Parton secured seventh place, rising from a poor rural background to become a globally renowned singer. Bill Clinton ranked eighth, overcoming early hardships to become President of the United States.

Diane Hendricks placed ninth after building a major construction company despite early struggles, while J. D. Vance ranked tenth for rising from a difficult family background to achieve success in the military, education, and US politics.
