Web Desk: Social media giant X, formerly known as Twitter, is preparing to launch a dedicated messaging application titled XChat to expand its digital ecosystem.
According to a press release from Apple, the new application will prioritize user security by utilizing end-to-end encryption. The company aims to distinguish the service from traditional social media by ensuring the platform remains completely free of advertisements and data tracking.
The application will offer a comprehensive suite of communication tools, including high-definition audio and video calling features. Furthermore, users can exchange documents, create group chats, and utilize advanced message management options such as editing or deleting sent content.
Regarding the visual design, recent screenshots shared by X suggest a minimalist and clean interface. This layout focuses on displaying active conversations clearly to improve the user experience.
However, the service includes specific eligibility requirements. Only individuals with an existing X account can access XChat. Additionally, the initial rollout targets a specific market, as the company developed the application exclusively for iPhone and iPad users.
This strategic move follows X’s broader ambition to transform into an “everything app.” By integrating secure messaging with existing social networking features, the platform seeks to compete directly with established encrypted messaging services while leveraging its existing global user base.
