Global leaders have welcomed the two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States and praised Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts.

The joint statement was issued by the office of British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street.

The statement was signed by several world leaders including Emmanuel Macron, Giorgia Meloni, Friedrich Merz, Mark Carney and Sanae Takaichi. It also included the participation of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa.

The statement said that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran is a positive development and that the diplomatic efforts of Pakistan and other partners in facilitating the breakthrough are commendable.

Global leaders emphasized that diplomacy is the only path to resolving the conflict and called for immediate and meaningful negotiations to move forward in order to reach a lasting and sustainable solution.

They also stressed the need to ensure the protection of Iranian civilians and the establishment of peace in the region, warning that failure to control the situation could lead to a global energy crisis.

The joint statement urged all parties to fully implement the ceasefire and take steps to reduce tensions in Lebanon as well.

The leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz so that global oil supplies remain uninterrupted and economic stability is maintained.
