death of a doctor

Web Desk: Authorities in Lahore are investigating the death of a doctor whose body was discovered inside a parked vehicle at Children’s Hospital Lahore, with early findings indicating possible personal distress as a contributing factor.

The incident came to light when security personnel detected a strong odor emanating from a car parked within the hospital premises. Management alerted police, who forced the vehicle open and found Dr. Ahmed Latif lifeless in the driver’s seat.

Investigators said the car was secured from the inside, with the keys present in the vehicle. The seatbelt was fastened, and his mobile phone was found switched off.

Family members had earlier reported concern after Dr. Latif failed to return home for several days. Hospital officials confirmed that he had also not reported for duty during that period, prompting efforts to trace his whereabouts.

Relatives told police that the doctor had faced emotional challenges following the breakdown of his marriage. He had married about two years ago and had a young daughter. However, after a recent divorce, family members said he had been struggling with depression.

During the search, authorities recovered medication typically prescribed for depression, which they said may be relevant to the investigation.

Police said they are examining all possible factors to determine the circumstances surrounding the death. While no definitive conclusion has been reached, preliminary assessments suggest that mental stress and related personal issues may have played a role.

Officials added that forensic examinations and further inquiry will be necessary to establish the exact cause of death.
