Expensive smartphones are currently unable to use 5G services, and the reason has now come to light.
Sources from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority have confirmed that 5G cannot yet be used on devices from Apple and Samsung.
Carrier configuration for 5G on these devices has not been completed, and without approval from Apple and Samsung, 5G services cannot be activated on their phones.
According to sources, Apple and Samsung have not yet included Pakistan in their 5G “country whitelisting.” Global mobile companies enable 5G on their devices only after approving network compatibility in each country.
Sources further state that the technical approval process between mobile companies and network operators is ongoing.
The PTA is in contact with telecom operators as well as Apple and Samsung management. Once whitelisting is completed, 5G services will automatically become active on all compatible devices.
5G services on Apple and Samsung phones in Pakistan are expected to be activated soon.
It is worth noting that 5G Spectrum has revolutionised the arena of moblie networks in Paksitan and it has been made operational in 300+ sites.
