Shahid Afridi criticizes Pakistan's poor performance in ODI

Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi has strongly criticized the national selection committee following Pakistan’s defeat in the ODI series against Bangladesh and the team’s disappointing performance in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

According to reports by Dunya News, Afridi said in a message on social media that the primary responsibility for the team’s recent failures lies with the selection committee.

He stated that although the members of the committee have played a great deal of cricket themselves, they still appear unable to determine which captain is suitable for which format of the game.

Afridi added that constant changes in the team and experiments carried out in the name of “surgery” are proving harmful. Young players are being included in the national squad despite having played very few matches in domestic or first-class cricket.

The former all-rounder further said that the standard of domestic cricket in Pakistan is not high enough for players to immediately secure their place at the international level.

He also remarked that repeatedly awarding caps to new players is not a solution; instead, it is affecting the team’s stability.

Afridi maintained that several senior players with strong records in the ODI format were overlooked, even though they should have been retained in the team.
