India is reportedly requesting Iran’s assistance to secure the release of its tankers stranded in the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Iran has allowed a Turkish vessel to pass through the strategic waterway.

According to the The Wall Street Journal, 23 Indian tankers are currently stuck in the Strait of Hormuz. India is in contact with Iran to secure their passage. India’s foreign minister has already spoken twice with his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, regarding the issue.

On the other hand, a Turkish minister said that Iran has allowed a Turkish vessel to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. However, 14 Turkish ships are still stranded in the waterway.

Meanwhile, German chancellor Olaf Scholz stated that Germany does not want to become part of Iran’s war. He said there is no reason for Germany to provide military protection to shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that Germany is not part of the conflict and does not wish to become involved.
