Web Desk: Authorities have changed the working hours of passport offices. Under the new schedule the offices will now open only four days each week.
Officials say the decision follows a new administrative plan. Therefore citizens should check the new working days before visiting a passport office.
However regional passport offices that operate for twenty four hours will continue their normal service. These offices will remain open without any change in their routine.
Meanwhile the shift system at the Islamabad Asaan Khidmat Center will also continue as before. Visitors can still access services there according to the existing shift schedule.
In another development Chaudhry Salik Hussain said authorities are blocking the passports of beggars who were deported from foreign countries. Officials say the step aims to prevent repeated travel for illegal begging activities.
Officials also confirmed that the Director General of the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports Pakistan approved the new schedule before issuing the circular.
In addition the government has announced holidays in educational institutions from 16 March to 31 March under the national austerity policy. Authorities say this step will help reduce public expenses and energy use.
