Islamabad: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has rejected reports claiming an increase in LPG prices.

According to a private TV channel, the authority said in a statement that no new notification has been issued regarding LPG prices.

The statement clarified that LPG prices come into effect on the first day of every month, and any claim or rumor about an increase in LPG prices is false.

OGRA also advised consumers to purchase LPG at the officially notified price and to immediately contact the local administration if they are charged higher rates.

The clarification comes amid uncertainity about fuel prices due to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, particularly involving Iran and Israel, which have heightened fears of disruptions in global energy supply routes.

Escalating regional instability and threats to shipping lanes in the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf have triggered volatility in international oil and gas markets, leading to speculation about potential increases in petroleum and LPG prices in several countries, including Pakistan.
