Taliban label religious preachers’ visit as Pakistani ceasefire delegation

Afghan Taliban face saving acts

Web Desk, A recent visit by three Pakistani clerics led by Maulana Fazlur Rehman to Afghanistan for religious preaching has been misrepresented by the Afghan Taliban as an official Pakistani delegation sent for ceasefire negotiations and talks.

The Taliban, in utter frustration , are attempting to project an image of diplomatic engagement, described the clerics’ visit as part of efforts by Pakistan to mediate peace, though the clerics had no such official mandate. They are self invited by Taliban to convince themselves that someone wants to talk to them.

Observers say this move seems aimed at reassuring the Taliban’s domestic audience that outside actors are willing to engage with them, even if the reality is different. They find it hard to handle the frustration and wrath of their war stricken public. Such plots are designed with face saving intent as Pakistan pay no heed to such fabricated stories.

Experts note that the Afghan Taliban have increasingly sought to legitimize their image through such claims, particularly as they face internal criticism and international isolation. This incident reflects ongoing challenges in separating genuine diplomatic efforts from self-styled political theater.

Before Pakistan and Afghanistan reached this stage ,the former has long maintained diplomatic engagement with the Afghan Taliban through official channels, including envoys and coordination with regional partners. These efforts have focused on promoting peace, encouraging ceasefire agreements, and facilitating dialogue between different Afghan factions. Despite these official attempts, the Taliban have shown no interest in peace and stability of the region.
