Rawalpindi: The Pakistan Navy has launched Operation Muhafiz Al-Bahr in response to emerging regional threats and potential disruptions to key maritime routes.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation has been initiated in view of the evolving regional maritime security situation and possible disturbances in vital sea lanes. The initiative aims to counter multi-dimensional threats to national shipping and maritime trade while ensuring the uninterrupted flow of energy supplies and the protection of Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs).

ISPR stated that the Pakistan Navy’s escort operations are being conducted in close coordination with the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC). The navy is closely monitoring the current maritime environment and keeping constant watch on the movement of commercial vessels to ensure their safe and secure passage.

As nearly 90 percent of Pakistan’s trade is carried out through sea routes, safeguarding maritime communication lines remains a top priority. Currently, Pakistan Navy ships are providing security to two commercial vessels, one of which is expected to arrive in Karachi today.

The military’s media wing added that the Pakistan Navy remains fully prepared to respond to emerging maritime security challenges and is committed to protecting national shipping and ensuring regional maritime stability.
