Tensions sharply escalated along the Pak-Afghan border late Friday night after what security sources described as physical raids and unprovoked firing by Tehreek-e-Taliban Afghanistan (TTA) on Pakistani border positions.
In response, Pakistan’s security forces launched what officials termed a strong, decisive, and proportionate counter-operation in the Zhob sector.
According to security sources, during the retaliatory action, Pakistani forces advanced across the border and took control of approximately 32 square kilometers of territory, identified as the Ghudwana Enclave.
Sources stated that the operation was carried out to neutralize threats to border security and to prevent further cross-border aggression. Heavy exchanges were reported in multiple areas during the night, though no official details regarding casualties have yet been released.
The situation along the Pak-Afghan frontier remains tense, with security forces on high alert. Officials emphasized that Pakistan will continue to defend its territorial integrity and respond firmly to any aggression.
