Web Desk: Pakistan’s armed forces launched retaliatory strikes in Afghanistan’s eastern Laghman province under what officials described as “Operation Ghazab Lil Haq,” responding to what security sources called unprovoked aggression by Afghan Taliban forces.
Security officials said the operation remained ongoing as of 19:43 hours local time.
According to security sources, the Pakistan Air Force carried out precision strikes targeting multiple sites in Laghman province. The targets included an arms depot, an ABF battalion headquarters and facilities linked to the Nangarhar Brigade.
Officials said the installations were “completely destroyed” in the strikes. They described the action as a “strong and effective response” to cross-border aggression.
Pakistan’s military has not released an official casualty figure. Afghan authorities did not immediately comment on the claims.
Meanwhile, security sources said Pakistani forces also targeted what they identified as Kharjar Qila, describing it as a militant stronghold used for military purposes. The structure was destroyed during the assault, the sources said.
In addition, officials claimed that several militants were killed in the strike. The identities of those killed could not be independently verified.
The latest strikes mark a sharp escalation in tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where both sides have previously accused each other of cross-border attacks and harboring militants.
Pakistani security officials reiterated that the country’s armed forces remain “resolute and unwavering” in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
There was no immediate response from Afghan Taliban spokesmen. Further details were awaited as the situation developed.
