Bannu : Pakistan Army conducted an operation against elements linked to militants in the Bannu .During the operation, a suicide attacker rammed a motorcycle rickshaw into the leading military vehicle. Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Sahibzada Gul Faraz was martyred in the attack, while other soldiers remained safe.
According to security sources, heavy contingents of security forces reached the site immediately after the blast, cordoned off the area, and launched a search operation. So far, five militants have reportedly been killed during the operation, while the search for additional militants is ongoing.
The military spokesperson stated that the objective of the operation is to clear the area of militants and ensure the safety of civilians. The army has appealed to the public to follow security precautions and immediately report any suspicious individuals or activities to security forces.
Eyewitnesses reported that heavy smoke and panic spread in the area after the explosion, and security forces promptly shifted local residents to safe locations. The operation is still underway, and the army has assured that no militant will be allowed to escape.
It is worth noting that the operation was launched on intelligence-based information, and the timely action by the Pakistan Army prevented potentially greater damage. Authorities have announced that the search operation will continue until full control of the area is achieved.
