PTI sit-in and protest

Islamabad: Tensions emerged between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers and opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai during a key meeting of the Pakistan Opposition Alliance for Constitutional Protection at Parliament House. The alliance has called a follow-up meeting tomorrow.

Sources revealed that the disagreement centered on whether to continue the organized sit-in and protest over Imran Khan’s health. Mahmood Khan Achakzai emphasized maintaining a structured protest while allowing personal access to the PTI founder and his family, whereas most PTI members advised ending the sit-in.

PTI lawmakers argued that the sit-in should be concluded based on Imran Khan’s latest medical reports, while Achakzai asked for concrete reasons before agreeing to end it. He stated, “The PTI founder has entrusted me with this responsibility; I will make decisions that leave no room for ambiguity.” Only a few PTI members, alongside Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas, agreed with this approach.

The alliance decided to enhance coordination to ensure the PTI founder’s personal doctors have timely access. They also resolved to continue advocacy for uninterrupted access to medical care and a structured protest.

The alliance has submitted five demands regarding Imran Khan’s health, including:
Immediate private access for personal doctors, Dr. Asim and Dr. Faisal.
Prompt sharing of all medical reports and test results.
Full autonomy for personal doctors to provide medical opinions without pressure.
Continuous follow-up examinations for Imran Khan.
Written clarification from the government if any obstruction or delay occurs in treatment.

The alliance emphasized that Imran Khan’s health is a human and constitutional issue, not a political matter, and any delay or symbolic action will be unacceptable.
