Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the extension of business hours during Ramadan following requests from traders, chain stores, supermarkets, and restaurant associations.

Punjab CM’s Advisor Zeeshan Malik shared the official notification on the X account, granting exemption from standard working hour restrictions for all commercial centers across Punjab during the holy month.

Shops, shopping malls, supermarkets, chain stores, and restaurants will receive special permissions. The exemption has been issued under the Punjab Shops and Establishments Ordinance 1969, and the Labour & Human Resource Department has officially notified it.

Relevant provincial authorities and administrations have been directed to ensure implementation of the notification. The DG Labour Welfare and Deputy Commissioners have been tasked with enforcing the orders.

The Information Department will publicize the notification in the media, while chambers of commerce and industry heads have also been informed.

The primary aim of this decision is to facilitate ease and convenience in business activities during Ramadan.
