Web desk: Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir discussed global and regional security issues with United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio the Inter Services Public Relations said on Sunday.
Field Marshal Munir visited Germany from February 12 to 14 to attend meetings held alongside the 62nd Munich Security Conference according to the military’s media wing.
In a press release ISPR stated that the army chief met Marco Rubio and discussed matters of mutual interest including global and regional security and cooperation in counterterrorism efforts.
During the visit Field Marshal Munir also met several senior officials. He held talks with Germany’s Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt Foreign Policy and Security Policy Adviser to the German Chancellor Günter Sautter and Chief of Defence Carsten Breuer.
ISPR said the discussions focused on current security challenges bilateral defence cooperation and the importance of promoting global peace through dialogue at both bilateral and multilateral levels.
Field Marshal Munir also met Brazilian Armed Forces Chief of the Joint Staff Admiral Renato Rodrigues de Aguiar Freire. Both sides discussed ways to strengthen military cooperation between their countries.
In addition Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Rodolph Haykal called on Field Marshal Munir. They reviewed the global and regional security situation and explored steps to enhance bilateral defence collaboration.
