Tarlai mosque attack

Web Desk: Authorities have identified the suicide bomber responsible for the deadly Tarlai mosque attack, which killed 31 worshippers and injured several others, officials said Thursday.

Minister of State Talal Chaudhry told reporters that forensic analysis of the bomber’s body parts allowed authorities to confirm his identity. He said the attack claimed the lives of IG Islamabad’s cousin and a Gilgit police inspector, underscoring the human cost of the assault.

Chaudhry described the attackers as reaching “the limits of cowardice,” deliberately targeting soft civilian locations, including mosques, schools, and banks. He emphasized that such attacks are part of a broader campaign of terror designed to sow fear across the country.

The minister said the suicide bomber had traveled to Afghanistan multiple times, suggesting cross-border links in the planning and execution of the attack. Chaudhry alleged that militant networks in Afghanistan and India provided backing to the perpetrators, and he claimed that funding for terrorism inside Pakistan from India had increased threefold.

Authorities have vowed to continue investigations and security operations against militant networks. “We will pursue the masterminds and their sponsors,” Chaudhry said, adding that Pakistan remains committed to safeguarding its citizens and critical institutions from future attacks.
