Basant starts officially

Lahore: Lahore once again plunged into the magic of Basant. Exactly at midnight, the three-day Basant Festival officially began, and colourful kites replaced the stars in the city’s sky.

Punjab’s Information Minister, Azma Bukhari, inaugurated the Basant celebrations by flying a kite from the rooftop at Delhi Gate. Soon after, rooftops echoed with laughter, the beat of drums, and chants of “Bokata.”
The atmosphere of Lahore filled with joy and vibrant colors. Young people continued flying kites from rooftops, while enthusiastic crowds came out onto the streets to watch kites soar and get cut.

Women also actively took part in the Basant festivities. With henna-decorated hands, colorful attire, and delicious traditional dishes, spring was welcomed in grand style. Many women were also seen flying kites themselves on rooftops.

The city’s streets and lanes appeared adorned with kites. Despite inflation, the demand for kites and strings remained at its peak, becoming scarce in several areas.
