Web desk: Pakistan defeats Australia by 22 runs in first T20 at Qaddafi Stadium

Pakistan secured a comfortable 22-run victory over Australia in the first Twenty20 international at Qaddafi Stadium on Sunday, setting the tone for the series.

Batting first, Pakistan scored 168 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted overs. The total provided a challenging target for the visiting Australian side.

Chasing 169, Australia managed 146 runs for eight wickets, falling 22 runs short of the target. Cameron Green scored 36 runs, while Xavier Bartlett contributed 34. Captain Travis Head added 23 runs off 13 balls, and Matthew Short scored five before being dismissed.

Saif Ayub and Abrar Ahmed each took two wickets, while Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz claimed one wicket apiece. Their combined efforts restricted Australia from closing the gap.

The win gives Pakistan an early advantage in the T20 series. Officials and fans celebrated the team’s disciplined batting and sharp bowling performance.

With momentum on their side, Pakistan will look to extend their lead in the upcoming T20 matches against Australia.
