Web Desk: Foreign ministers from Pakistan and seven other Muslim-majority countries have announced a joint decision to join a US-backed Board of Peace aimed at ending the Gaza conflict and advancing a permanent political settlement, according to a collective statement issued on Wednesday.

The announcement follows an invitation extended by US President Donald J. Trump to the leaders of Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Qatar to participate in the initiative.

In their statement, the foreign ministers confirmed their shared decision to join the Board of Peace, adding that each country would complete the required legal and procedural steps to formalise participation.

Egypt, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have already publicly announced their decision to join, while the remaining countries said they would sign the joining documents in accordance with their respective domestic requirements.

The ministers reiterated their support for peace efforts led by President Trump and reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the mandate of the Board of Peace as a transitional administration.

The Board’s mission is outlined in the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, which has been endorsed by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.

According to the statement, the initiative aims to consolidate a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, support post-war reconstruction and advance a just and lasting peace.

The ministers stressed that any durable settlement must be grounded in the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and statehood, in line with international law.

They added that successful implementation of the plan would help lay the foundation for long-term security and stability for all countries and peoples of the region.

Diplomats say the joint move by eight influential Muslim-majority countries signals growing momentum behind a multilateral political approach to the Gaza crisis, as international pressure mounts for an end to hostilities and a credible pathway toward peace.
