Web Desk: Due to heavy snowfall, the district administration has closed the Murree Expressway entry from Phulgra Toll Plaza to Murree for general traffic. The National Highways and Motorway Police confirmed the closure through an alert.
According to the announcement, the ban will apply exclusively to vehicles heading towards Murree, while the N-75 highway will remain open for local residents and emergency services. Authorities have advised the public not to make unnecessary trips to Murree until the weather improves.
The Murree district administration and traffic police are working hard to cope with the expected rush during the winter season, especially on the occasion of the New Year. A special traffic plan for the New Year night has been finalized in the latest coordination meeting, under which the leaves of traffic wardens have been cancelled and additional personnel are being deployed to monitor the roads and control the traffic pressure.
The administration has also issued further weather and travel advisories, warning that rain and snowfall are likely to continue in Murree and surrounding areas until early January. Tourists have been advised to keep tire chains in their vehicles, have a full fuel tank and follow the instructions of traffic officials at all times.
According to authorities, the safety of passengers is the top priority, especially during peak tourist seasons, to minimize the dangers of the winter season. As in previous years, this time too, the administration is issuing travel warnings and safety instructions, urging drivers to carry essential equipment and adhere to traffic rules.
The administration has made it clear that due to the current weather conditions in Murree, one of Pakistan’s most popular tourist destinations, it is extremely important for the public and tourists to follow these instructions.
