Web Desk: An Indian Air Force trainee aircraft crashed into a water body in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj district on Wednesday, triggering an immediate emergency response. The aircraft went down during a routine training sortie and fell into a pond, according to initial information.
Meanwhile, officials said the pilot steered the aircraft away from populated areas before the crash, potentially preventing civilian casualties. The circumstances leading to the incident remain unclear, while critics believed that due to non skilled pilots these type of frequent incidents occur in India.
PRO Defence, Prayagraj, Wing Commander Debartho Dhar says,” Around 12 noon today, a microlight aircraft of IAF with two crew, which was on a training mission, conducted an emergency landing. The two crew are safe, and a court of inquiry has been ordered.”
The Indian Air Force reported several aircraft crashes in 2025 involving fighter jets and trainer aircraft, most of them during routine training or display flights.
On February 6, 2025, a Mirage-2000 fighter aircraft crashed near Shivpuri in Madhya Pradesh during a routine training sortie. Both pilots ejected safely and sustained minor injuries.
On April 3, 2025, a Jaguar fighter jet crashed near Jamnagar in Gujarat during a training mission. One pilot ejected safely, while the second was initially reported missing.
On July 9, 2025, a Jaguar trainer aircraft crashed near Bhanoda village in Rajasthan’s Churu district. Both pilots on board were killed in the incident.
On November 14, 2025, a Pilatus PC-7 basic trainer aircraft crashed near Tambaram in Tamil Nadu during a training mission. The pilot ejected safely, and no civilian casualties were reported.
On November 21, 2025, a HAL Tejas fighter jet crashed during an aerial display at the Dubai Airshow. The pilot was killed in the crash.
