Web Desk: The United Arab Emirates has officially accepted the invitation to join the ‘Gaza peace board’ established under US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, which is being described as a significant development in regional and global politics. According to Arab media, the decision was announced in an official statement issued by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.
The Foreign Ministry statement said that the UAE will not only join the Gaza Peace Board, but is also fully prepared for active participation and practical cooperation to achieve its objectives. The statement expressed its determination that the UAE will play an effective role in peace, stability and future prosperity in Gaza through this forum and will work closely with global partners, including the United States, in this regard.
According to the UAE Foreign Ministry, the Peace Board aims to develop a workable framework for governance, rehabilitation, humanitarian assistance and long-term stability in Gaza. The UAE made it clear that it considers this US initiative an important opportunity to promote global cooperation, peaceful resolution of conflicts and economic and social stability in the region. With this decision, the UAE has not only become the first Muslim country to openly declare its support for Trump’s peace plan, but has also joined the initial countries that have practically agreed to become part of this board. Previously, Hungary was the first European country to accept the offer to join the Peace Board without any conditions.
President Donald Trump presented a peace plan after the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, under which it was proposed to run the administrative affairs of Gaza through an international board instead of Hamas. According to this plan, the Board of Peace will be headed by the US President himself, while its founding members include former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, US Secretary of State, Trump’s son-in-law and other international technocrats.
Talking about the global reaction, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has also indicated her willingness to join the board, however, an official announcement has not been made yet. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has expressed his willingness in principle, but the final decision will be made after reviewing the board’s charter.
On the other hand, French President Emmanuel Macron has clearly refused to join the plan, to which President Trump threatened him with regime change.
