Web Desk: Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Balochistan foiled a major sabotage plan by killing five terrorists during a major intelligence-based operation in the sensitive Dasht area of Mastung district.

According to officials, the slain terrorists were planning to block the Quetta-Sibi highway as well as target security forces and civilian traffic, which could cause major loss of life and property in the area.

A CTD spokesperson said that the department had received reliable intelligence that armed men affiliated with the banned organization BLA were present in Dasht area of Mastung and were preparing to attack by blocking the main highway. Upon receiving the information, special teams of CTD Quetta were alerted, who immediately reached the relevant area and started the process of surveillance and positioning.

According to the spokesperson, as soon as the terrorists felt the presence of security personnel, they started firing unprovoked. This was followed by a fierce exchange of fire that continued for a long time. During the encounter, five terrorists were killed while their accomplices managed to escape taking advantage of the difficult and mountainous terrain.

After the operation, heavy weapons and explosives were recovered from the scene, including five sub-machine guns with ammunition, seven hand grenades and three motorcycles. Officials say that the recovered weapons indicate that the terrorists were preparing for a major attack.

According to the CTD, a search and combing operation is underway in the area to arrest the escaped terrorists and reach their facilitators, while more operations are expected at various locations to eliminate the rest of the network. The bodies of the slain terrorists have been shifted to the hospital for necessary legal action and a case of the incident is being registered at the CTD police station.
Security officials have reiterated their resolve that every attempt to sabotage law and order in Balochistan will be foiled through timely and effective action, and all available resources will be utilized to protect the citizens.
