Blast in Kabul claims several lives, multiple injured

Web Desk: An explosion hit a busy neighborhood of Kabul on Monday, killing several civilians and injuring others, according to officials and local media.

The explosion occurred moments earlier in the Shahr-e-Naw area, a commercial district in the Afghan capital. Witnesses reported a loud blast followed by scenes of panic as emergency responders rushed to the area.

Initially, security officials did not comment on the incident. However, authorities later confirmed casualties.

According to multiple sources, the blast originated from a restaurant near a Chinese eatery in Shahr-e-Naw. Several people were wounded in the explosion, though the exact number of casualties was not immediately clear.

TOLOnews, citing sources on the ground, reported that civilians were among those killed and injured.

Spokespersons for the Taliban Interior Ministry and Kabul Police Khalid Zadran confirmed that an explosion had taken place and resulted in fatalities. He did not provide further details on the cause of the blast.

Authorities said they were investigating the incident and would release additional information as it becomes available.

Meanwhile, security forces cordoned off the area as ambulances transported the wounded to nearby hospitals.
