Web Desk: Pakistan has received an invitation to join a major international diplomatic forum on peace, reconstruction and political process in Gaza, which Islamabad is calling a validation of its international reputation and active diplomacy.

Responding to media queries, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan has been invited by the US President to join the proposed Peace Board for Gaza. He said that Pakistan will remain committed to international efforts for peace and security in Gaza and will continue to support a lasting solution to the Palestinian issue, which is in line with UN resolutions.

Following the protracted war, severe humanitarian crisis and destruction of infrastructure in Gaza, the US is considering the proposed administrative and diplomatic structures such as the Gaza Peace Plan (GPP) and the Peace Board or Board of Peace under it. The process aims to organize international cooperation for stability, unhindered provision of humanitarian assistance, restoration of basic facilities and a long-term political solution after the ceasefire.

In this context, the US President has sent invitations to heads of various countries to become part of this proposed board and fulfill joint responsibilities in the post-war phase. The invitation received by the Prime Minister of Pakistan is part of this global diplomatic process.

According to government sources, this invitation is being considered a positive and prestigious diplomatic progress for Pakistan. The offer to join such a forum at the global level is a reflection of Pakistan’s growing diplomatic relevance, confidence and recognition as a responsible state.

This progress is the result of continuity of state diplomacy, timely coordination and effective strategy in accordance with national interests, which has included coordinated efforts of civil and military diplomacy.

The basis of this possible participation is not the politics of any camp but a practical effort to alleviate the humanitarian tragedy faced by the Palestinian people, especially the defenseless citizens of Gaza. Pakistan has consistently supported the Palestinian right to self-determination, protection of civilians, immediate ceasefire, unhindered humanitarian assistance and reconstruction in the past.

Officials say that this forum provides Pakistan with an opportunity to go beyond mere rhetoric and play a practical role, so that it can incorporate its principled position into global decisions and influence measures that are directly related to the lives of the Palestinian people.

Pakistan’s presence in global mechanisms can help ensure that decisions are not unilateral, Palestinian interests are protected, relief and rehabilitation measures remain transparent and a coordinated stance among Muslim countries is strong.

Government circles say that the potential inclusion of Gaza in the Peace Board is both an honor and a responsibility for Pakistan, which Islamabad intends to mold into a positive role for humanity, justice and the common interest of the Muslim Ummah.
