Web Desk: Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar has said that the Sydney event was followed by a wave of fake news as Bondi Beach attackers were declared as Pakistanis without evidence.
Addressing the concluding ceremony of a cyber security event in Islamabad, he said that Pakistan will further strength its National Cyber Security Policy to successfully counter cyber threats and protect sensitive data and a dedicated Cyber Security Centre is fully active to deal with cyberattacks. He further added that concrete steps are being taken to make the country’s cyber security system more robust and reliable.
And referring to the recent tragic incident in Sydney, He said that the event was followed by a wave of fake news. He noted that Bondi Beach attackers were labelled as Pakistani without any evidence and allegations were raised against Pakistan on social media platforms without proper investigation.
Attaullah Tarar said that Pakistan itself is a major victim of terrorism and remains committed to countering fake news through a clear and responsible strategy.
Attaullah Tarar said that training and awareness in cyber security are essential in the digital age. “The government has established a Digital Communication Department to improve digital governance and counter misinformation” He added.
