Islamabad: Big relief news for electricity consumers in the country is coming days is expected, as the per-unit price of electricity may be reduced.
The electricity could become cheaper by 72 paisa per unit under the monthly fuel adjustment for November if the request filed by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) is approved. The CPPA has given the request for monthly fuel adjustment to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).
NEPRA is going to hold a hearing on the request on December 31.
As per the application, distribution companies were supplied a total of 7.813 billion units of electricity during November. Documents submitted to NEPRA mentioned that the per-unit cost of electricity in November was Rs 6.16.
The documents further said that various sources were used for power generation. in November, 39.16% of electricity was generated from hydropower, 9.34% from local coal, 5.06% from imported coal, 8.44% from gas, 8.64% from imported LNG, and 25.23% from nuclear fuel.
when NEPRA approves the request, electricity consumers will receive power at a rate cheaper by 72 paisa per unit which will be good relief for the electricity consumers.
