A moderate earthquake struck Karachi on Thursday, causing panic among residents in different parts of the city.
According to seismic authorities, the earthquake measured 5.2 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 12 kilometres, making the tremors strongly felt across several areas.
People rushed out of homes and offices after feeling the tremors, while residents reported shaking lasting for a few seconds. No immediate reports of casualties or major damage were received. Residents in DHA Phase 8 felt strong tremors as the earthquake hit the city. People in PECHS and Shah Faisal Colony also reported shaking, while Liaquatabad experienced particularly intense tremors. The earthquake was also felt in Somaiani, causing concern among locals.
Officials have advised citizens to stay calm and follow safety guidelines in case of aftershocks.
